1. Use quotes

When you are searching for something specific try to use quotes
"Cute Puppy Photos" If you are going to search for Cute Puppy Photos google is going to search for these words in any order which may result in numerous combinations.

2. Use hyphen to exclude

Some times we need to search for the words with ambiguous meanings such as the word Pitbull. When you search, you may get results for both the singer as well as a dog breed. If you want to cut one out , just use the hyphen to tell the search engine to ignore the one.

For example Pitbull -dog. Doing this will exclude the word dogs in the results and will just give the search results for the singer. Go on you can try this, it’s interesting 👯

3. Use Colon to search specific site

Some times you need the search results on a specific website only. Don’t worry this trick will help you with it. Just type the search string and the website followed by a site keyword and a colon, this will do the trick. 🌠

messi site:fcbarcelona.com, being a messi fan myself 😸 using this example this will give you the news about messi posted only on the official handle of FC Barcelona Club.

4. Find a page that links to another page

If you want search for a page that links to a specific page then this will help you. For example, if you want to know which websites have cited FC Barcelona what you are gonna do is write:

links: fcbarcelona.com, this is going to give you results about all the other sites which have an embedded link or a mention of fcbarcelona.com on their web pages.

5. Use asterisk as a wildcard

Let’s suppose, you are a fan of some song whose name is unknown. You just remember some words of that song and want to search it on google. This is where wild card entry is gonna help you. For example,

Everything look * with a * this is going to replace the asterisk with all possible combinations and give you the results. This song is “Mood” by 24kgoldn which is also the one I like 😻 you should listen to it, if you haven’t.

6. Find sites related to other sites

Let’s say if you have got a favorite website and it’s getting a bit bored because the content there is not being updated regularly. What you can do is use related keyword and it will give you all the other sites that are related to your site 💃.

For example, related: amazon.com will give you other ecommerce related websites.

7. Search multiple words

If you want the results to have specific words in their results you can use the word OR to separate and club the words.

pizza OR burger this search is going to give you results which contain only these two words as their content. 🙌

8. Search a range of numbers

If you want to search between a specific time stamp you just have to use .. this operator between the dates. For example:

football world cup winner 2000..2021, this search is going to give you all the world cup winners from 2000 to 2021.

9. Keep it simple

Don’t be too descriptive about the questions you are going to ask. It’s not a person whom we are talking to. Instead of Where can I find sea food nearby? just write Sea food nearby. Google will automatically understand, fetch your location and give you the desired results.

10. Google has shortcuts

Last but the most interesting item from the stack. These keywords are very friendly if you want quick responses to certain type of questions. Let’s check them out:

  • weather *zipcode* : Google is quickly going to display the zip code of that particular area.
  • define: *word* : You will get the definition of the word you want.
  • time *place* : Latest time of the place you want is displayed.
  • 10 * 2 - 3 : Any mathematical problem can be written directly and you will get an answer. Don’t need to visit the calculator first and then enter the entries.

That’s it for today folks 🙌
